Healthcare Support Workers are essential when it comes to providing excellent care to patients in the community.
The role is hands-on and daily tasks involve helping many different patient groups with social and physical activities, personal care, mobility, meal times and booking appointments. Healthcare Support Workers may also take observations of patients, including temperature, pulse, respiration and weight.
A typical day might include:
- Making home visits to housebound patients to collect venous blood samples using agreed equipment, as requested by appropriate health care professionals
- Perform clinical practice to the agreed standards and be consistent with safe practice
- Be responsible for delegated administration tasks within the clinical area e.g. stock control, basic equipment cleaning, specific clinical tasks to support the smooth running of a clinic
