A brief introduction to Inclusion Health

Inclusion Health aims to prevent and redress unequal health outcomes for people from disadvantaged populations, including people experiencing homelessness, sex workers, vulnerable migrants and Gypsies and Travellers.

Adverse Childhood Experiences

• Appreciate that what happens in childhood makes a difference to a child's mental and physical health, impacting on the rest of their life.
• Describe 'Adverse Childhood Experiences' (ACEs) as a framework for understanding childhood trauma
• Appreciate the long-term physical and psychological consequences of exposure to childhood trauma
• Recognise common responses to trauma, including hypervigilance, dissociation, disconnection, and shame
• Start to think about how to routinely and sensitively enquire about a history of trauma and adverse experience
• Understand and begin to incorporate trauma-informed care into your personal practise

Join us for an engaging session on Tier: 1 Trauma-informed Practice in Bradford. This session will equip you with valuable insights and practical strategies to support individuals affected by trauma. Led by experienced professionals, this training promises an interactive and informative learning experience.

Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Knowledge Exchanges

Our annual Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Knowledge Exchanges take place over three days each year and are run in partnership with the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership.

The events are open to anyone who works in this area.

The aim is to bring partners together to share evidence, best practice and explore progress made to help make sure West Yorkshire provides trauma informed and responsive services.

They are of particular interest to people working in the public, private, voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE) who share our joint ambition to work with people who have experienced abuse, violence, neglect, poverty, or discrimination, or who support those who have.

Communication.

• Examine the complex relationship between alcohol consumption and domestic abuse/interpersonal violence.
• Analyse a sociological model that explores external and environmental factors contributing to violent crimes and alcohol use.
• Compare different areas in Leeds to understand geographical influences on domestic violence statistics.
• Identify key characteristics of both victims and perpetrators, and explain the role of alcohol in their interactions.
• Assess the impact of domestic violence and alcohol misuse on children within affected families.

Inclusion Health, Alcohol and/or Drugs

• Discuss information about alcohol’s effects and risks in relation to older people.
• Define alcohol units and recommended limits.
• Introduce early and late-onset drinking.
• Discuss barriers to support
• Discuss harm reduction techniques and how older people may be able to implement them into their lives.
• Understand the use of simple brief interventions applying the FRAMES model.
• To increase awareness of the types of support that individuals and their families can access in Leeds

Inclusion Health, Frailty

The Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice e-learning project (Alcohol IBA) helps professionals with identifying those individuals whose drinking might be impacting on their health and delivering simple, structured advice. Courses cover delivering alcohol IBA in 4 settings: Primary Care, Community Pharmacy , Hospitals and dental practices.

• Identify alcohol related harm and dependent drinking.
• Diagnose severity of alcohol dependence.
• Understand and describe treatment options.
• Develop skills to effectively treat problem drinking.
• Deliver enhanced services for problem drinkers
