Announcing the Leeds People & OD Festival 2022

This year will see the Leeds Health and Care Academy work with partners to launch an exciting initiative designed exclusively for People teams across the sector – Leeds People & OD Festival 2022

In June, we will be facilitating a series of events that will allow HR, OD and People colleagues to create connections, celebrate success, and develop as professionals. Connecting as one Team Leeds, we will be providing multiple opportunities to better understand the system we’re all an important part of, and support the way we work together. During the week, People colleagues will tackle real-life problems, working collaboratively across city-wide teams, to address the practical and tangible issues which affect us all.

To shape the development of the festival, this month we will be hosting the Leeds People & OD Forums. These short, focused, virtual discussions will allow colleagues to come together to discuss specific People and OD related topics and share best practice, listen to presentations from People and OD leaders across the system, and meet peers and other teams working in similar roles in different organisations. The Forums will provide a snapshot of what to expect at the upcoming Leeds People & OD Festival this summer.

Building on the success of previous and current system-wide pieces of work, the Leeds People & OD Forums will focus on bringing together our Leeds health and care People and OD community across all organisations, all parts of the sector, and from all roles, with the following aims:

  • To reflect, re-group and share learning
  • To make connections and network with colleagues
  • To identify and explore common themes, challenges and opportunities to work better together across organisations

Across Leeds we have a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in all things People and OD. If you work in any of these, or similar areas, being part of our People and OD community will be of direct relevance to your role…

We want the Leeds People & OD Forums to be accessible to as many colleagues as possible. If you work in a health and care organisation, in a role that’s focused on supporting people in some way – you’re part of the People community, and we’d love for you to join us.

We’re aiming to bring colleagues together from across the sector – participants might work within a charity or voluntary organisation, a GP practice or primary care network, a care home or domiciliary care organisation, an NHS Trust, the City Council, a further or higher education institution, or a service that supports these organisations. Participants will be able to share experiences with peers from a wide range of employers.

If you sign up for a Leeds People & OD Forum, not only will you have the opportunity to meet colleagues from different organisations and join an ongoing community of practice, you will also be able to share your thoughts and ideas in terms of what you’d like to see at the Leeds People & OD Festival in June. By having this as a discussion point at the Forums, we are ensuring that the topic areas covered during the Festival focus on what colleagues are interested in, giving you the opportunity to help us curate the content.

Each Forum will be 1 hour long and held via Zoom to ensure that the sessions are as accessible as possible. Each Forum will be hosted by a different speaker or senior leader who will introduce the conversation and share insight, and there will be facilitation support to help guide discussions.
