Hundreds of current vacancies in health and care will be promoted at a free careers and recruitment event at Leeds Civic Hall on Wednesday 15 May from 4pm until 8pm.

For the first time ever on this scale, more than 30 employers will be represented at the Leeds Health and Care Academy event and a whole range of roles including residential care assistant, support worker and domiciliary care, medical and nursing roles as well as many other vital support services too.

With jobs and opportunities at every level, this event is reaching out to all ages – school and college leavers, people seeking employment or career changes and promotion, and people qualified internationally but not practising in the UK.

The Academy, a project of Leeds Academic Health Partnership, is a ground-breaking collaboration of three of the city’s universities, Leeds City Council and NHS organisations. One of its key priorities is improving employment in Leeds by attracting the future workforce for health and care.

Sheree Axon, Academy Director, said: “There will definitely be something for everyone interested in working in the health and care sector in our city and the chance to speak to people about their work if you are unsure if it is the right thing for you”.

“So whatever your background there will be something for you if you want to make a positive difference – from full and part-time roles to volunteering, work experience opportunities and apprenticeships.”

Leeds health and care ambassadors will be there on the evening to talk about their many varied roles in health and care and there will also be support available for people keen to apply for roles.
