Leeds Health and Care Talent Hub

Who we engage with:

This is a citywide service that connects the people of Leeds with career, education, training and volunteering opportunities in health and social care.

The Talent Hub supports people to achieve their potential by providing a fully holistic and person-centred approach that’s tailored to a candidate’s individual ambitions and circumstances. Through engaging and recruiting those in our most disadvantaged communities, this approach enables the Talent Hub to contribute towards narrowing inequalities in our city and ensuring that the diversity of the Leeds health and care workforce better reflects that of the people it serves.

Organisations and teams that already work closely with large groups of potential candidates. Examples could be local education and training providers, community groups, local charities, Employment & Skills services, and employers who are supporting onward career transitions such as armed forces, public services or following redundancies. We work with Community Partners to generate the Talent Hub’s pools.

The Talent Hub offers a self-referral service via the Leeds Health and Care Academy website for individuals wanting help to explore opportunities within Leeds health and social care. These candidates will be supported on an individual basis. The referral form can be found here.

Organisations who are able to provide an opportunity for candidates. This could be directly into a job vacancy, or through qualifications, training or volunteering opportunities. Working closely with Destination Partners ensures that the connections made between candidates, employers and training providers establish the best possible fit and recognise the needs and priorities of all parties.

The Talent Hub can support your recruitment needs through:

Alternative Advertising

The Talent Hub would take a targeted approach to advertising through our partnership networks to increase the visibility of your vacancies within local communities/local talent pools. This could include student cohorts in schools, colleges, local community groups/networks.

Pre-screening

Using our alternative advertising to promote your opportunity, interested candidates would complete an expression of interest with the Talent Hub.

We would then screen candidates against your “get in” criteria (i.e. right to  work, no visa restrictions, their availability etc). This could include a skills scan if appropriate (Maths and Literacy testing and/or IT skills). Suitable

candidates would then be asked to apply via a closed advert. The Talent Hub offers the candidate additional support with understanding the role, application writing and interview skills as part of the offer. Pre-screening improves the quality of applications and supports the development of a sustainable talent pipeline, as candidates are supported to upskill if they do not meet the “get in” criteria at first contact.

Pre-employment Programmes

Programmes can be co-designed for hard to fill, priority roles. These programmes would allow candidates to undertake simulated learning aligned to the job role. An accredited qualification (linked to the job role) is built into the programme. This method of recruitment flips the recruitment process and focuses on is the role right for the person rather than is the person right for the role.
