Mainstream School Placements

Supported by our partnership with Leeds Learning Alliance, partners co-designed a placement expansion pilot within four primary schools, supporting 20 multidisciplinary students in Occupational Therapy and Nursing (including children’s, learning disability and mental health nursing). This provided an additional 1957.5 placement hours from May 2025 – July 2025.

As part of the pilot, partners developed a number of resources to help schools, higher education and students when considering placements or on placements within mainstream schools. These resources include; A Healthcare Placements Guide, which provides an overview of what to expect on placement and information for learners and schools staff; A Placement Learning Plan (developed by Leeds Trinity University and University of Huddersfield.) This plan should be completed by the learner and the practice supervisor or assessor for non-assessed placements and a Team Leeds Learner Introduction slide deck, to inform students prior to placement and includes #teamleeds video and why placements are so important within schools.
