Fairer Healthier Leeds (Health Equity Development Programme)

This programme gives health and care staff the skills and confidence to reduce health inequalities. By delivering tailored training across Leeds, we’re helping services to be more inclusive, targeted, and effective for those most at risk.

Dr Anna Ray, Consultant in Public Health, Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Purpose

Build the skills, knowledge, and confidence of health and care staff (including Nurses, Midwives, AHPs, Care Workers and Managers) to reduce inequalities and improve access to services.

Strategic Drivers

  • Tackling systematic, unfair, and avoidable differences in health across groups.

  • Developing four training packages for system-wide use.
  • Scaling delivery across Leeds and beyond.

  • Coordinating co-design and delivery of training.
  • Promoting and rolling out training city-wide.
  • Supporting evaluation and reporting to the Steering Group.
  • Managing project delivery with external funding support.
